The Good Wife Gone Bad
BONITA House-of-Fashion explores the distorted reality of 1950s americana, examining the social commentary of a woman moulded to be the “perfect wife” ... but what happens when she does not find the ‘perfect husband?’ This exploration into feminine rage and hysteria delves into the overwhelming desire to break free, where logic crumbles and crimes of passion become the only means of resolution.
In a world today where traditional wives and values are idolised and romanticised, it is important to look at the foundations those values were built on. Was it love or repression? and in turn it is the poster-child fantasy that many have come to fall in love with; the aesthetics and what they represent but not the harsh reality of a dollhouse life.
But in true Bonita fashion nothing is finished without a twist, and it was looking at the beautiful irony in which this era stumbled across on. The perfect wife can also be the perfect killer, with her inconspicuous charm and vast cleaning knowledge what is to stop her from joyfully ‘cleaning’ up the mess in a prescribed lapse of reality.
